These are 2 of the fastest cars ever made, and they are really old ! but still have the looks and speed of many of the new supercars of today :P .. they were just ahead of their time. I personally prefer the corvette, it has that dated look about it but is still stylish (and VERY fast). But..

Right lets get started:
Calloway Sledgehammer Corvette
Average insurance for middle-age man, safe neighbourhood: $1550 month
There is only one of these Calloway Sledgehammer Corvette cars at the moment that I know of. Callaway at the time of building this one said they could/would make another or others for 400,000. US dollars. The top speed of 254.76 MPH was attained by John Lingenfelter as the driver, and apparently was not an official documented recorded speed. Although the production was only limited to one, I am sure that if more people who bought much more expensive vehicles would have weighed the overall package, they may have bought one of these. After all it still is a small block Chevy, okay a 880 H.P. one at that...lol. Lets not forget that this car is 17 years old too.

The Dauer 962 LeMans was in fact the fastest production/street legal car ever made. I am in the process of building a similar page like this one for the Dauer 962 Lemans, Click above link to see it. Thanks to another very knowledgeable visitor that enlightened me about.
Average insurance for middle-age man, safe neighbourhood: $1350/month
The Dauer 962 LM was introduced to the public in September of 1993 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and was accompanied by a price tag of $853,000. Not the most expensive exotic car on the market, but well worth the money. The Sultan of Brunei has added six of these machines to his 5000+ vehicle collection. On average, between one and two Dauers are produced per year.
